Day 5 of the $7,500,000 XL Inferno Championships played host to another 13 events and saw Canada’s “doyleb102” win Event #59 $60,000 R&A for $15,853.12, while Sweden’s “bananove” took down Event #62 $100,000 Quarterback for $28,240.55. You can read about all Thursday’s events below.

Ivanov & Nakládal Final Table the R&A

Event #59 $60,000 R&A saw 692 players each pony up the $55 buy-in, which generated an $84,550 prize pool. That was distributed to the top 90 players including “Pelfort” (15th - $760.95), “ALuckyGuy” (38th - $338.20), and “TheSquirrel” (56th - $270.56).

Two notable players that made deep runs were Jan “hownorez” Nakládal and Stefan “IceStream” Ivanov. The former is a well-known player with $446,608 in live tournament earnings, of which $357,655 came from finishing 18th in the 2013 World Series of Poker Main Event.

Meanwhile, Ivanov has $418,651 in lie tournament earnings including a career-high $111,000 for winning a 2015 $1,600 Venetian Deep Stack event. The Bulgarian finished fifth in Event #59 for $4,438.87.

After seven hours and 45 minutes, Canada’s “doyleb102” ended up the winner for $15,853.12. Back on January 1, “doyleb102” finished second to Mark “PennyHrdaway” Darner in the $50,000 Sunday Challenge, which was good for $8,616.

Adrian “ADRI_ATM” Mateos Final Tables the Quarterback

The biggest prize of the day was awarded to Sweden’s “bananove,” who took home $28,240.55 for topping a field of 599 players in Event #62 $100,000 Quarterback, which surpassed its advertised guarantee by creating a $149,500 prize pool.

One man that contested for the title was Adrian “ADRI_ATM” Mateos, who sits second on Spain’s all-time money list with nearly $8.2 million in earnings. The two-time WSOP bracelet winner and EPT11 Grand Final champ was less than two weeks removed from winning a €50,000 High Roller event in Monte Carlo for $988,924.

Back in February, Mateos won the Super XL Event #13 $150,000 Mega Deep for $34,524 and then finished ninth in the Super XL Main Event for an additional $17,250. In Event #62, Mateos had to settle for fifth place and a $7,983.30 payday.

Day 5 XL Inferno Champions

Below is a look at all those who won events on Day 5 of the XL Inferno, each of who locked up a seat into the XL Champion of Champions tournament. Thus far, 65 seats have been awarded for that event which will see three lucky winners receive packages to the 2017 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas.

Day 6 – A Knockout Bonanza

On Friday, 11 more events will play out on the sixth day of the XL Inferno Championships. The buy-ins range from $30 all the way up to $160, and there’s something for everyone from the Lightning Six Max to the Deepstack Swordfish.

At 18:00, both the $150 buy-in Event #73 $30,000 Knockout and $35 buy-in Event #74 $15,000 Mini Knockout will get underway, with the $75 buy-in Event #77 $10,000 Turbo Knockout taking place two hours later.

In addition, the $25,000 Friday Challenge, which costs just $35 to enter, will begin at 18:35 followed by the $109 buy-in Event #76 $15,000 Tornado at 19:00.
