888Live London Festival headed back to Aspers Casino in Stratford City, London for the second festival to be held at this location.

The series kicked off with an Opening Event boasting a guarantee of £120,000. With so much up for grabs along with an affordable £220, the locals were out in force.

By the start of play on Day 2, 771 entries had contributed to a massive prize pool of £152,658 – crushing the guarantee by almost £33,000!

The top spot boasted £26,000 along with 81 places paid and a min-cash of £400.

Days 1 and 2

There were 4 planned Day 1s scheduled for the following dates:

Of the total entries in the Opening Event:

  • 39 survived from flight B
  • 47 from flight C
  • 17 from flight D

In addition to the survivors from the four Day 1s, five entries were added before start of play on Day 2 – thereby increasing the total entries in the Opening Event to 771.

With the four Day 1s combined – plus the 5 registrants on the day – 129 players kicked off the action on Day 2.

Biggest Hand of the Event

The biggest hand of the day occurred right before the final table bubble. Christopher Kyriacou woke up with Aces and Rytis Taujanskas found himself in the unfortunate position of being all-in pre-flop with pocket Kings.

Even more unfortunately for Taujanskas, Kyriacou had him covered.

Taujanskas: K♣K♦

Kyriacou: A♥A♣

The flop was clean: 3♠2♣2♥ despite Chris’ fears.

Then came the turn - K♥ - and Taujanskas allowed himself to celebrate momentarily.

Only one of the two remaining Aces in the deck could save Kyriacou…

River: A♠ and then we were down to the final Nine.

Winners and Payouts

In addition to the prize money all nine players received a ticket to the 888Live London Festival Main Event.

The 9 finalists settled into play at around 10:30pm local time. However, it wasn’t until around 4am that a deal was made between the 3 remaining players announcing Christopher Kyriacou as the ultimate champ.
