Trevor Sinclair and Graeme Le Saux

Graeme Le Saux has faced some tricky wingers in his time, but his latest challenge proved to be quite different. In this week’s latest episode of 888poker’s #HEADSUP, he faced former England international Trevor Sinclair. With a ‘pair’ of former England internationals, it promised to deliver an enticing encounter.

Cleaning Boots

Trevor began proceedings by asking Graeme who used to clean his boots, a tradition that has sadly died out in modern-day football. Recalling his Blackburn days, two names came to Graeme’s mind, with former Irish and English internationals Damien Duff and James Beattie sharing the polishing responsibilities. Apparently it was a job that Beattie took great pride in – Graeme’s boots were practically spotless!

Worst Tattoos

In response, Graeme raised the stakes by quizzing Trevor on the worst tattoo he had witnessed in the dressing room. Ever quick off the mark, Trevor answered with “David James”. And yes, we agree with Trevor’s rationale – it’s never the best idea to get the name of your (now ex) wife on your groin. Ouch! He should have kept that card close to his chest!
The poker intensified with the turning of the first River. At first, Trevor thought he’d won with two pairs, one of which was an ace. However, Graeme soon corrected him, pointing out that he had a full house. The disappointment on Trevor’s face was clear to see!

Vainest Player

The play continued and Trevor asked Graeme who was the vainest player that he ever played with. It was clear that he had a name in mind. Golden Balls himself, David Beckham! Graeme goes on to explain how when meeting up for England training, Beckham used to “modify” his kit. The other players couldn’t believe what he did! Never afraid to express his opinion, Graeme also called out ex-Chelsea forward Gianluca Vialli – he couldn’t believe how polished his head was!

The Finale

After an intense encounter, Graeme was ready to go all in. Never afraid to shirk away from a challenge, Trevor happily obliged. Following the River, both players were ready to turn over their cards. Graeme went first. Pair of eights. In response, Trevor turned over his cards. Nine of Clubs and ten of Diamonds. It was a flush! After an intense encounter, it was Sinclair who emerged victorious.
