From December 19-26, 888poker said thank you to our players with a year-end massive Happy Holidays Sale! Players could join the action for discounted buy-ins for an entire week while still competing for huge guarantees!

As we closed out two decades of great online poker action, we offered an entire series of exclusive events with buy-ins on sale at 50% off while still offering more than $250,000 in guarantees!

The series included the $100,000 GTD Mystery Bounty Main Event with a discounted $55 buy-in (originally $109). The tournament kicked off on Christmas Day and proved to be a not-to-be-missed holiday event. More on that, including who won, is outlined below.

  • Players from the United Kingdom led the way with three titles
  • The Brazilian contingent was responsible for two
  • One title each went to Malta, Ireland, Finland, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Belarus, and Montenegro

All told, the series catered to a combined 9,410 entrants and awarded $301,755 in prize money.

On Sunday, the $55 buy-in – slashed in half from the usual $109 – $100K GTD Holiday Sale Mystery Bounty Main Event attracted 1,618 players who rebought 485 times. That snuck by the guarantee by offering up a $105,150 prize pool to the top 320 finishers, plus a top bounty prize of $10,000.

That bounty went to Canada’s “Josieviolet”, who also finished in 113th place for $93.75 for a total payout of $10,093.75!

Others to cash the tournament were the following players –

  • “Jenny0211” (57th place for $126.84 plus $273.78 in bounties)
  • “simonsnaps” (45th place for $137.87 plus $797.56 in bounties)
  • “GoBananas” (26th place for $170.96 plus $247.55 in bounties)
  • “Ciupilan50” (22nd place for $204.05 plus $1,160.65 in bounties)
  • final table bubble “Pepijin” (10th place for $468.77 plus $568.86 in bounties)

The Main Event final table went on an overnight hiatus before returning on Monday to play down to a winner, which was live streamed on the 888pokerTV Twitch channel.

After “Bromista” bowed out in third place for $3,777.77 plus $345.05 in bounties, the title came down to “Laszlo_Szucs” and “xCot_”.

The former ultimately prevailed to win the tournament for $7,192.53 plus $258.21 in bounties for a total payout of $7,450.74.

Also, on Sunday was a $265 buy-in, $40K GTD Holiday Sale Mystery Bounty High Roller. The tournament drew 148 players who rebought 37 times. That surpassed the guarantee by offering a $46,250 prize pool to the top 24 finishers. There was also a $4,000 top bounty prize up for grabs.

That bounty went to Finland’s “Inflaatio”, who also finished the tournament in sixth place for $1,141.87. They walked away with $8,957.26 in prize money, along with some other bounties. 

After 6 hours and 22 minutes, it was Montenegro’s “Ognian1988” defeating Finland’s “wellyxx” in heads-up play. They won the tournament for $6,103.18 plus $5,930.77 in bounties for a total payday of $12,033.95.

The third and final tournament on Sunday was the $27.50 buy-in, $5,000 GTD Holiday Sale Mystery Bounty 6-Max 55, which attracted 350 players who rebought 110 times.

Coming out on top of the 460-entry field was Belarus’ “sooqa”, who claimed the title for $2,250.

The series kicked off on Monday, December 19, with the $109 buy-in, $10K GTD Holiday Sale Monday Big Shot, a tournament that normally costs $215 to enter. The event had 98 players rebuy 28 times, which meant a $12,600 prize pool was on tap for the top 18 finishers.

Among those to earn a payday were the following –

  • “rupuziakas” (14th place for $252)
  • “checheee” (11th place for $264.60)
  • “VanH3Lzing” (7th place for $422.10)

The United Kingdom’s “cookie1010” wound up the victor and took home $1,264.47 in prize money.

On Tuesday, December 20, the $160 buy-in, $15K GTD Holiday Sale Big Shot 320 saw 79 players rebuy 22 times. So, it snuck by the guarantee by generating a $15,150 prize pool. That cash went to the top 15 finishers, including the following players to name a few –

  • “JakeA77” (10th place for $356.02)
  • “alexos888” (6th place for $727.20)

After 888poker regular “AUTISPOSTI” exited in third place (for the second day in a row) for $1,780.12, the title came down to Malta’s “xane7a” and the United Kingdom’s “nlfreddie”.

It took 6 hours and 14 minutes of play before the former came out on top to win the title and $4,173.88 first-place prize.
