From October 28 through November 2, Dragonara Casino in Malta will play host to the 2016 Swedish Live Poker Championship.

Swedish Poker Championship Packages on Offer

After inking a two-year deal to sponsor the online portion of the Swedish Poker Championships earlier this year, it was only natural for us to show our commitment to Sweden’s poker community by sponsoring the live event. After all, there’s no better way to promote a live event than to run online satellites.

On October 20, we will host a special €109 buy-in PSML kval satellite (Tournament ID: 86500679) into the 2016 Swedish Poker Championships. It’s there that you will have the opportunity to win one of our prestigious packages, which includes five nights at the Vivaldi Hotel, complete with breakfast and WiFi, along with entry into the Main Event.

The 2016 Swedish Poker Championships, which will see media coverage provided by Poker.se, is being thrown by Poker Event with Event Manager Mauritz Altikardes.

“Since 888 decided to target the Swedish market by hosting the Swedish Poker Championships Online earlier this year, the first of a two-year deal, I believe that becoming a main partner for the Live Championships was a logical step,” said Altikardes. “It shows that 888 is committed and their involvement is a well-thought out effort on their behalf. They understand that being present online as well as live is the way to establish oneself firmly within the Swedish poker scene.”

Altikardes also believes 888poker’s sponsorship will go a long way in boosting the event.

“It´s easier for the Swedish player base to find online satellites on 888 as they´re familiar with the online client, and in the long run this will benefit the Online Championships as well,” said Altikardes. “888 can meet the players live and present the online values they offer. So, this should mean more players in the event.”

888poker Looks to Offer More to Swedish Players

In 2015, the Swedish Poker Championship, which was held at the same venue overlooking St. Georges Bay, consisted of over 20 events and drew 1,333 unique players over five days.

This year, the series aims to hold more than 20 events over six days and will once again feature cash games, an outdoor lounge, a Rock, Scissors & Paper contest, live music, and even some stand-up comedy.

Among those confirmed to play are last year’s winner Emma Wikberg, who topped a field of 159 entries to win a €25,577 first-place prize, and recent WSOP bracelet winner Peter Eichardt.

“From my perspective, the 888 representatives I´ve been in talks with have shown sincere interest for our market and have been very humble and curious in our player base,” Altikardes continued. “Many other operators do their stuff, and it’s more of a ‘my-way-or-the-highway’ approach. The fact that there´s a variety of tourneys online, the local live tours, and the WSOP partnership is of course only in 888´s favour.”
