888poker’s ChampionChips Micro Series Is Back!

Our official Micro Series is back!

From September 2-9, 2018, 888poker is proud to host the ChampionChips Series, which this year offers smaller buy-ins and bigger prizes. The online series, featuring buy-ins starting at just $1, is comprised of 18 tournaments offering $175,000 in guaranteed prize pools.

“It's a great series that gives some of the lower stakes players, or people with a smaller bankroll, the chance at some huge prize pools,” said 888poker Ambassador and Twitch streamer Parker “Tonkaaaa” Talbot. “That's exciting at almost any buy-in level.”

Choose Your Favourite Sport

One of the things that makes the ChampionChips series so much fun is, each tournament is associated with an Olympic sport. For instance, there’s the Opening Ceremony, Wrestling, Boxing, and many more.

“Definitely race walking,” Tonka said when asked what sport he excels at. “I've always been a big fan of the sport.”

The ChampionChips series will kick off on September 2 with the $5.50 buy-in Event #1: $5,000 Opening Ceremony (6-Max). That same evening, the $16.50 buy-in Event #2: $25,000 Half Marathon will take place as both a deepstack and freezeout tournament.

The biggest buy-in of the series is the $55 Event #6: $30,000 Weightlifting (High roller) at 17:30 on September 4. The second-largest buy-in is the $33 Event #16: $50,000 Marathon (Main Event), which will take place at 18:30 on September 9.

Other highlights on the schedule include the $16.50 buy-in Event #4: $20,000 Long Jump, $12 buy-in Event #8: $3,000 Boxing (Knockout), and $3 buy-in Event #13: $2,000 Judo Tournament (SNAP), just to name a few.

ChampionChips Action on Twitch

As usual, you can not only expect to see 888poker Ambassadors in action, you can also look forward to some live streams on Twitch.

“I'll definitely be playing the $55 Weightlifting and $33 Marathon and streaming them 100% if I’m streaming those days,” Tonka revealed.

This event marks the second year of the ChampionChips Series and follows a successful outing in 2017. Last year, 2,534 players participated in the Main Event, which nearly doubled its $50K GTD with almost $100K up for grabs. The tournament came down to two Brazilian players and ultimately saw “gkamei09” defeating “PheresAA” to win a $14,190 top prize. The latter took down $10,380 for finishing as runner-up.

Other winners from 2017 included “palimbo,” who topped a field of 1,970 entries to win the $5 buy-in Opening Ceremony for $1,930; “yuramouzze” besting a 1,941-entry field to win the $1 buy-in Event #3: $1,500 Race Track Turbo for $444; and “5banki” navigating a 736-entry field to win Event #6: $30,000 Weightlifting (High Roller) for $6,752.
