Last Sunday, we debuted a brand new, high-stakes tournament in the $2,100 buy-in, $100K GTD Big Shot High Roller. The inaugural event proved to be a massive success.

Forty-four players rebought ten times to surpass the guarantee by creating a $108,000 prize pool.

Poker players and fans can look forward to that tournament returning this week. Not only that, if they’re lucky, they might even be able to follow in the footsteps of “happyhour1” and “Biggblue”.

These two qualified for last week’s tournament via a freeroll and hit it big at the final table.

The Road to Big Shot Greatness

In the past, both players tended to play lower-stakes tournaments with single-digit buy-ins. In the first-event $2,100 buy-in, $100K GTD Big Shot High Roller, they got to mix it up with some of online poker’s best.

They both found success too as “happyhour” finished in third place for $15,660 while Canada’s “Biggblue” took sixth for $6,480. Not too shabby for getting in for free!

Furthermore, “QuietMike” also had a remarkable journey.

He won his seat to the tournament by turning a $30 sub-satellite into a $320 satellite. He eventually won a seat in the High Roller, where he finished in fourth place for $10,800!

A not-too-shabby return on investment of $30!

The Road to Big Shot Greatness

It’s Triple the Glory at the Top for Canada!

What’s more, they also outlasted 888poker Ambassador and four-time World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner Dominik “888Dominik” Nitsche. He busted in seventh place for $5,400.

From playing low stakes to outlasting one of poker’s best, it doesn’t get much better than that!

Well, technically, it does as one could win the tournament. In the inaugural tournament, that honour went to Canada’s “DosPoochies”.

He struck a heads-up deal with fellow countryman “Zebest7r” that saw them lock up nearly $30,000 apiece in prize money.
