On Tuesday, May 16 at 10 a.m. PST, online poker guru Parker “TonkaaaaP” Talbotand and two-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner Doug Polk, the creator of Upswing Poker, will not only be playing the 888poker XL Inferno $5,200 High Roller, but they’ll be live streaming all on Twitch. Then on Sunday, Polk will stream his progress playing the XL Inferno Main Events.

To celebrate, we are also creating a special $1 buy-in tournament in which we will award Upswing Poker lab packages worth $2,000. If you’re not fortunate enough to win one of the packages, fear not as three various kinds of Upswing Poker lab bundles will soon be available in our online store.

Topping it all off, this Friday we will a host a $5 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em $5,000 GTD event that we’re calling the “Doug Polk – NO RAKE is Better.”

Chipping In for REG in Super High Roller Event

“I started talking with 888poker a bit more regularly after I started producing videos and doing streams,” said Polk. “Ultimately, I decided, in general, I want to do my own thing rather than pursuing some sort of permanent sponsorship. But I was always open to the idea of working with 888 if they did something I could get behind or wanted to be a part of. The XL Inferno Championships is definitely a part of that.”

Tuesday’s $5,200 Super High Roller is one of three exclusive tournaments where we will be chipping in while you cash out. That means all fees from the tournament will be donated to REG’s (Raising for Effective Giving) “Global Poverty Charity Portfolio.” For their global poverty charity portfolio, REG has chosen the Against Malaria Foundation, the Schistosomiasis Control Initiative, and GiveDirectly.

Twitch Poker Streaming Done the Doug Polk Way

“I think 888pker is making some of the best moves to establish themselves as a dominant force in the poker industry,” Polk continued. “It’s not like they’re new to the game, but they’re making a lot of smart pickups. They signed Parker “Tonkaaaa” Talbot; I think that was huge. The second largest poker streamer on Twitch, that was a great pickup for them. It seems like 888poker is committed to building their name in the industry. They’re running some good events, some higher stakes events. A lot of good moves from them overall.”

If you’ve never watched Polk’s stream, here’s what you can expect.

“I’d say, more so than a lot of the other streams on Twitch, I keep a focus on trying to keep it light-hearted, having some fun, telling some jokes, and trolling people from time to time,” Polk explained. “Just being excited about playing poker and being a part of the whole experience. It’s not going to be as in depth strategy.”
