This past Sunday, we proudly launched our newest game, Flopomania, which put a twist on traditional Texas Hold’em by starting the action on the flop.

Flopomania follows in the footsteps of our recent non-traditional poker offerings such as BLAST Sit-n-Go’s, where four players compete for a randomly drawn prize pool worth up to 10,000 times the buy-in. And SNAP Poker, the fast-fold poker format designed to reduce waiting time as you’re dealt new cards the instant you fold.

Flopomania Setting Records

On its first day, there was a record number of participants compared to the two games mentioned above. In fact, there was a more than 50% increase from those who tried Flopomania compared to BLAST on its first day. And, there was an 11% increase in the number of active players in 888poker on launch day compared to the average in recent Sundays.

Flopomania also set the all-time record for the number of flops seen in cash games in a single day, not surprising given the nature of the game. Furthermore, the average number of hands in an hour was 15% higher when compared to other 6-max tables.

Flopomania also helped make this past Sunday the biggest day of the year for active cash tables at the same time. Finally, there were some great reviews from players, including 888poker Ambassador Dominik Nitsche.

“The first day of Flopomania was a blast, no pun intended,” said the three-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner. “The timing was perfect as players logged on to play online tournaments like the Mega Deep and Whale had the opportunity to check out a new game - one with a unique twist. I know I had a lot of fun going straight to the flop and putting my skills to the test.”

How It Works

Flopomania skips the preflop round of betting and instead immediately puts out a flop. The player left of the button is the “First Player to Act,” but don’t confuse that player with the small blind as there are no blinds in Flopomania. Instead, each player posts an equal ante before the flop. Once the flop is dealt, traditional Texas Hold’em rules apply.

In addition to Flopomania, a “Push or Fold” variation will be introduced. In this game, a preset betting amount will be determined, and things progress in binary fashion. That means a player can either bet that amount when action is on them or call/fold/raise when facing a bet. Players can bet just once during a single hand in Push-or-Fold Flopomania.
