We’re one week into the XL Eclipse, and thus far 91 players have qualified for our series-ending Champion of Champions Event on September 26 at 18:00 GMT. Remember, the winner of that event will receive a $13,000 package to the 2017 World Series of Poker Europe at King’s Rozvadov.

Day 7 of the XL Eclipse, which is comprised of 197 events, was comprised of a baker’s dozen worth of tournament, which means 13 for those bake goods haters out there. Three of those revolved around our popular “Crazy 8” concept – you know, as in the World Series of Poker Crazy Eights bracelet event won by Alexandru Papazian this past summer and Hung Le the year before that.

In addition, there was a pair of players that captured their second XL Eclipse titles, while one of our 888poker Ambassadors made a deep run (Hint: it’s not Dominik Nitsche who is in Vegas to take part in the 888poker-sponsored Poker Masters).

You can read more about those stories and more further down in this recap. However, before you do, don’t forget to check out all our previous recaps by clicking the links below:

“GSwarrior30” Captures Second XL Eclipse Title

Prior to Day 7, only one player had won two XL Eclipse titles – Roman “Romeopro33” Romanovskyi. On Saturday, two more joined him the first being an apparent fan of the NBA’s Golden State Warriors.

Ukraine’s “GSwarrior30” prevailed over a field of 283 players in Event #79: $15,000 Breeze to win $3,067.50. Earlier in the series, the Ukrainian bested 716 entries in Event #56: $15,000 Deepstack Swordfish for $3,691.87

“GSwarrior30” already had a seat in the Champion of Champions tournament, so now he’s simply playing for prestige and money. We’ll have to wait and see if he becomes the first player to win three XL Eclipse titles.

Chris Moorman Nearly Captures Octopus Title

Earlier this year, “1LevelAbove” defeated a field of 1,000 entrants to win the XL Inferno Event #182: $45,000 Sunday Breeze for $9,000. That puts him in select company of players who’ve won both XL Inferno and Eclipse titles.

Another big story from the event was the sheer number of poker professionals at the final table. They included Jerry “Perrymejsen” Ödeen (9th for $1,571), Ole “olekonjole” Schemion (6th for $3,537), and our very own 888poker Ambassador Chris “888Moorman” Moorman, who made it all the way to the final three before falling.
