XL Eclipse Day 9: Mikhail “crossthervr” Petrov Denies “MakeMeHold” Second Title

The new week kicked off with 13 more events in the XL Eclipse. That means 120 of the series’ 197 events are in the books, and considering there have been a trio of multiple winners, that means 117 have secured seats in the series-ending Champion of Champions Event.

That tournament will take place on September 26 at 18:00 GMT and see the winner awarded a $13,000 package to the 2017 World Series of Poker Europe at King’s Rozvadov.

Croatia’s “bezfrke” Wins Biggest Prize of the Day

Event #110: $20,000 Crocodile easily surpassed its advertised guarantee by attracting 200 players, which created a prize pool of $30,000 prize pool. That offered up a $6,450 top prize to the winner, which proved to be the biggest payout of the day.

Among the 27 players to get paid were “OPH1UCHUS” (23rd for $300), “N_Dima” (12th for $525), and Alessandro “WadoIchimonj” Sarro (11th for $525).

After 8 hours and 36 minutes, Croatia’s “bezfrke” finished as the last player standing to win the $6,450. Back in the XL Eclipse Event #4: $150,000 Mega Deep, “bezfrke” finished in 35th place for $645, and a little over a month ago he finished runner-up in the $10,000 Thursday Swordfish for $1,614.

Petrov Denies “MakeMeHold” Second XL Eclipse Title

Event #111: $15,000 Swordfish drew 612 players, and in the end the title came down to two familiar players in Russia’s Mikhail “crossthervr” Petrov and “MakeMeHold.” If the latter screenname sounds familiar, you probably recognize him from yesterday’s recap when he won Event #93: $30,000 Sunday Deepstack Swordfish for $5,558.15.

Unfortunately for “MakeMeHold,” he would not win his second title. Instead, it was Petrov who came out on top after just over nine hours to win $3,179. Petrov, who hails from Moscow, now had an XL Eclipse title to add to his poker résumé, which includes $538,097 in live tournament earning.

Among those highlights are a career-high $54,898 for finishing 12th in the EPT9 Prague, $53,281 for placing ninth in the EPT12 Dublin Main Event, and $41,622 for finishing 22nd in the EPT 12 Barcelona.

“decafff” Wins Monday Royal Rumble

Event #115: $10,000 Monday Royal surpassed its GTD by attracting 570 players and creating an $11,400 prize pool. Among the 72 players to get paid were “cartonner” (45th for $51.30), “liamtrim” (19th for $68.40), “ChristianRA” (14th for $114), and “Voltairchen” (10th for $136.80).

The $22 buy-in tournament lasted just 6 hours and 30 minutes before the UK’s “decafff” took it down for $2,154.60.
