888poker LIVE is set to kick off the 2020 poker season with a series in a location that is truly royal! We’re headed to Madrid, Spain’s quintessential capital, for our very first live event of the year – and our first stop ever in the third-largest city in Europe.
The 888poker LIVE Madrid series will run from 23rd of January through the 3rd of February. We’re putting on 10 not-to-be-missed tournaments, boasting an €800,000 guaranteed Main Event to top off the action. The winner of which will take home a 2020 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event package as well as the top prize money. And, let’s not even mention the location!
The Casino Gran Via is located on one of the most prestigious sections of the city, with a stunning Art Deco design hosting first-class restaurants a wine cellar and, of course, a stunning poker room.
The City in the Heart of Spain
Madrid is a true capital – right in the middle of Spain. Many of the historic buildings date from the Spanish Golden Age from the 15th to 16th Centuries. Check out the Plaza Mayor, Alcazar, the Prison of the Court or the Palace of Councils for your architecture fix.
Then there is the art. The Golden Triangle of Art is located along the Paseo del Prado and is made up of three museums. The most famous is the Prado Museum, known for such delights as Diego Velázquez's, Las Meninas and Francisco de Goya's La maja vestida. The other two museums are the Reina Sofía Museum, where Pablo Picasso's, Guernica is displayed and the Thyssen Bornemisza Museum.
However, Madrid isn’t all brick and mortar. It has the highest number of trees and green surface per person in Europe. El Retiro is one of the most popular parks in Madrid and well worth a walkabout.
