Here’s a look at some highlights from the 2020 XL Inferno through Tuesday, May 19.

Germany’s “HSV_Gandi” Wins High Roller

The $320 buy-in Event #17: $100K High Roller saw 255 players rebuy 71 times, which meant the $100,000 prize pool was paid out to the top 36 players. Among those to cash were “easymoney406” (29th - $750), “Luckypeter29” (21st - $850), “ahjaa” (16th - $1,100), “alexos888” (10th - $1,600), and “cuadrado12” (6th - $4,500).

Sweden’s “cuadrado12” bowed out after shoving his last eight big blinds with the 10♣10♥ and failing to hold against the A♣3♦ of “HSV_Gandi.” Not long after, “HSV_Gandi” scored another elimination when his pocket threes held against the ace-queen suited of “popsnpoker,” who finished in fourth place for $8,500.

With three players left, it was Level 34 (60,000/120,000/15,000) when “Rocket_Aces” opened for 341,500 and “MorayEEEEEL” three-bet to 2.94 million. The former then four-bet and the latter called off the 980,000 he had behind.

“MorayEEEEEL”: 9♠9♥

“Rocket_Aces”: A♦Q♦

It was a flip and “MorayEEEEEL” held through both the 4♦4♣3♠ flop and 5♠ turn, but disaster struck when the Q♥ spiked on the river.

In the final hand of the tournament, which took place in the same level, “HSV_Gandi” moved all in holding the 4♣4♦ and “Rocket_Aces” called off for 3.5 million with the A♦10♣. It was a race situation but not after the flop came down 6♥4♠6♣ to deliver “HSV_Gandi” a full house. The 6♠ turn actually gave “Rocket_Aces” some life, but the 8♣ river was a brick to send him packing in second place for $15,000.
