Explanation of Rap

This is not a poker term as such – rather a term in standard English with synonyms such as tap, strike, knock.

In a poker context, rapping the table usually means a light double tab with the players hand indicating that he wishes to check. While traditionally the player raps the table, double tapping in any location is interpreted as a check in the modern era.

Example of Rap used in a sentence -> Villain rapped the table twice with his knuckles, indicating the check.

How to Use Rap as Part of Your Poker Strategy

Useful to be aware that double-tap = check if we are looking to check without vocalizing our decision. We should also be careful what we do with our hands during our turn, since we wouldn’t want our movements to be interpreted as a check when we are planning to bet.
