Explanation of Villain in Poker

The term Villain simply refers to our opponent in a hand of poker. The term “Hero” is used to describe either ourselves or the player from who is retellingretellinga hand. 

Example of Villain used in a sentence -> We open-raised on the button and Villain 3bet from the big-blind.

Villain in Poker Strategy

The word Villain is simply the name for our opponent in a hand of poker. It has no special strategic significance. We should be familiar with the phrasing. We might feel left out of a poker conversation if we don’t know what the term means.
